“Can we use carbon in daily lives despite its expensiveness and limited quantity?” The project began with this very question. After the two years of research and development, we could finally create a carbon item which can be used in daily lives.

The Factory M is a motorcycle design brand, specialized in carbon products. Over the last 11 years, it has specialized in developing motorcycle parts by producing composite products. The 109 Carbon Sling Bag is the result of the attempt to go beyond the carbon products for motorcycles by producing carbon items which are available to the general public.

We present to you the 109 Carbon Sling Bag, featured by the carbon hardshell produced by a composite product expert using the manufacturing process for motorcycle carbon parts. A master craftsman with 35-years of experience in producing designer bags completed the 109 Carbon Sling Bag using functional materials and a classic design.

The hardshell of the 109 Carbon Sling Bag is produced from the same material – carbon fiber – used for the carbon body of a supercar. Not only that, it contains functional materials which deepen its classical features over time. The only bag in the world that changes over time together with the owner, that is the 109 Carbon Sling Bag.

1. User-friendly design

The most important feature of a bag is to be “convenient and pleasant.” After numerous product tests, we created a design that provides the users with convenient and pleasant feelings in daily lives, when riding a motorcycle or engaged in leisure activities.

2. Features

The carbon fiber is 10 times stronger and 4 times lighter than steel. Made from the carbon fiber, the carbon body of the bag provides a light and comfortable fit.

I. Features of the carbon body

1) The body of the 109 Carbon Sling Bag is strong. The shock-resistant feature of the carbon protects the contents of the bag from diverse types of shocks as well as from the theft.

2) The carbon body intercepts electric waves thus it is secure from the leakage of personal information using RFID.

3) The weight of the carbon body is only 109 grams. The 109 Carbon Sling Bag is an item that you can always carry with yourself without any physical burden.

The carbon harshell is produced from the TORAYCA^® fabric made by TORAY. It is produced by a composite product expert specialized in motorcycle carbon parts. The surface is coated with the UV protection clear used only for carbon products to prevent yellowing of the product.  

The 109 Carbon Sling Bag has a capacity of 3.5 liters, capable of storing 11-inch size Portable tablet. Just like an automobile is named after its displacement of engine, the product name “109” is originated from the weight of the hardshell, which is 109 grams.

II. High-end functional materials

It is natural for a product to wear out over time, but it can change naturally and deepen its beauty over time as well. It is called “aging.” The 109 Carbon Sling Bag is produced from functional materials which are widely used for aging. These materials change over time with the owner, and the 109 Carbon Sling Bag becomes the only kind in the world, just for you.

The functional materials including the Italian vegetable oil pull-up leather, Fuji Kinbai waxed canvas, Alcantara, and Kevlar are highly reliable and add depth over time.

1) Tempesti ELBAMATT oil pull-up vegetable leather

TEMPESTI is a traditional tannery with 70-years of history, which belongs to the VERA PELLE (Vegetable tanned leather consortium) of Toscana, Italy. The ELBAMATT used in the 109 Carbon Sling Bag is a type of oil pull-up leather, proudly produced by the TEMPESTI. The oil pull-up leather is made by the permeation of oil into the leather, instead of coating. It is water-repellent and resilient to scratches.

The traces of usage are naturally aged and deepen the beauty of the product over time. Also, the ELBAMATT used in the 109 Carbon Sling Bag is produced from the Whole Skin, free of Spaccare (skiving leather), to maximize the touch of the leather. 

VERA PELLE represents “ethical and environment-friendly leather” and abides by the following five principles.  

 (1) We do not kill animals for leather.

(2) Our products can be easily recycled by using eco-friendly dyeing technique.

(3) We invest heavily on purification and waste recycling systems.

(4) We recover or recycle substances produced during the tanning process.

(5) Our products do not contain any toxic substances that may cause metal allergies.

2) Fuji Kinbai waxed canvas

A waxed canvas is made by coating wax on a canvas. It is more solid than a regular canvas thus used for waterproof purposes such as in sails and raincoats.

The Japanese 富士金梅^®(Fuji Kinbai) used in the Carbon Sling Bag is a canvas brand with 70-years of experience in waxed canvas. It is featured by the light and soft texture, achieved by double paraffin coating processes.

A waxed canvas protects the fabric from rain and other types of contaminants, which also deepens its sophistication over time. It can be restored by “rewaxing” which is a process to reapply the paraffin wax. The rewaxing not only restores the canvas but also highlights deeper sense of colors and aged beauty.  

VERA PELLE & Fuji Kinbai Warranty

The 109 Carbon Sling Bag package includes a warranty for the TEMPESTI ELBAMATT leather and Fuji Kinbai waxed canvas. The warranty is given a unique identification number.

3) Alcantara

The Alcantara is a high-end material produced in Italy, well-known as the material used for supercar interiors.

The touch of the Alcantara is similar to that of the suede, and it has high abrasion resistance, which makes it suitable for interiors.

The Alcantara is used in the strap and the lining of the Carbon Sling Bag to prevent them from chafing your skin when wearing the bag.  

The Alcantara is highly pollution-resistant thus less vulnerable to deformation caused by sweat or rain. It is certified as a non-hazardous material with no application of chemical treatments.

In addition, it is an ECO material with “carbon neutrality” certification in all processes from the manufacturing to disposal.

4) Oxford TPU Coated Liner

The liner of the 109 Carbon Sling Bag is made from the coated Oxford fabric. The Oxford fabric with TPU coating on the back is highly water-resistant. Along with the Fuji Kinbai waxed canvas and YKK waterproof zipper, the Oxford fabric helps you not worry about your bag in bad weathers such as a rainy day.

III. Finished by handwork of a master craftsman

A perfect finish is critical. The 109 Carbon Sling Bag is created by collaborating with a master craftsman who has 35-years of experience in producing and repairing designer bags. The Carbon Sling Bag is produced by the handwork of the master craftsman thus produced in limited quantities a day.

Due to the solid body of the carbon hardshell, the Kevlar^® fabric of Dupont^® is used for sewing. No one has sewed the carbon hardshell with fabric until now, and we succeeded in sewing them with Kevlar after numerous tests with the master craftsman.

V. Ergonomic and optimal strap design

The 109 Carbon Sling Bag can be worn comfortably with any types of clothes.

1) Fasten the sub-strap buckle and put your arms inward.

2) Turn the main strap to the front to fasten the main buckle.

3) You can take out the contents conveniently from the side by unfastening the main buckle.

You can wear it comfortably with a protector or thick clothes.

1. Factory M buckle and slide metal lock

Since the durability is critical for a lock, we use a product manufactured in South Korea with a superior functionality and perfection. The MIL SPEC metal lock, triple coated in a military product plating company, has five times higher durability than general locks. 

2. YKK waterproof zipper and YKK buckle

The zipper and buckles are the most frequently touched parts by the user. That is why a solid and meticulous finish is critical. The Carbon Sling Bag uses a YKK waterproof zipper and YKK buckles, and the durability of the zipper is even more reinforced by double-sewing the zipper with the lining.

Functions in every single line of the bag

Under the motto of “the design for functions”, every design of the 109 Carbon Sling Bag has its reasons and functions. The top cover prevents the zipper from malfunctioning by the wind during a high-speed ride.  

Also, the zipper can be hidden inside of the cover to be protected from theft based on double-locking by the slide metal lock.

VII. Package adding perfection to the product

The box of the Carbon Sling Bag is a part of the product which is encountered by the user for the first time. That is why it is designed to be not thrown away. The front has black background, and the name of the Carbon Sling Bag is written with a white logo.

The package contains user manuals and warranties for each material.

The package box is applied with a design used for a helmet box which is familiar to the motorcycle riders. A handle is attached to ensure convenient transportation. The product is placed inside of a pure cotton dust bag to protect the product before putting the product into the box and packaging the box in a delivery box.
